About 30 minutes into the natural reserve, isolated Playón offers stronger winds, combined with shorebreak-type waves.

The windier season is September to April, with winds ranging from 14 to 28 knots, and occasional 30+ knot sandstorms (Paraca). You can get similar conditions about 50 percent of the time during the rest of the year.

Be gentle with the bird colonies.
